Refund Policy
How refunds work for personalized StorySmith books.
Last updated: August 6, 2026
These pages describe how StorySmith actually works today, but they have not been reviewed by a lawyer yet. If anything here conflicts with a right you have under applicable consumer-protection law, that law controls.
Every StorySmith book is a personalized, made-to-order digital product, generated specifically for you from the name, choices, and photo you provide. Because each book is custom-made and delivered digitally, our refund policy is different from that of an off-the-shelf product. We’ve written it to be fair: you should always receive a working book, even though a personalized item generally can’t be “returned.”
Our fulfillment guarantee
If we cannot deliver a working book (for example, the file fails to generate, is corrupted, or the download/share link does not work) we will first try to fix it, and if we can’t deliver a working book, we will give you a full refund.
Before you buy
You can preview your story and a free, watermarked illustrated preview before you pay. We strongly encourage you to review the preview carefully, because once you purchase, the full book is generated specifically for you.
Final-sale nature of personalized books
Because each book is personalized and made to order, completed purchases are generally final sale and not eligible for refund simply due to a change of mind, a typo in something you entered, or a stylistic preference about how the illustrations turned out (generated likenesses are artistic interpretations and may not exactly match a photo).
When you are entitled to a refund
We will provide a full or partial refund where:
- A technical failure prevents delivery of a working book and we cannot fix it.
- You were charged in error, more than once, or for a book you did not receive.
- The delivered book is materially defective (e.g. missing pages, unreadable file) and we cannot correct it.
- A refund is required by applicable consumer-protection law.
When a refund generally does not apply
- You changed your mind after the book was generated and delivered.
- You made an error in the information you entered (we’ll still try to help, see below).
- You are dissatisfied only with the artistic style of an otherwise correctly generated book.
Even where a refund doesn’t strictly apply, we’d rather you be happy. If something looks wrong, contact us and we will do our best to regenerate or correct your book.
How to request a refund
Email adam@mymgg.com with your order details and a description of the problem within 14 days of your purchase.
Once we approve a refund we issue it straight away, back to the original payment method through Stripe. After that the timing is up to your bank, not us: Stripe reports that a refunded card payment usually reaches the cardholder in 5 to 10 business days. If the money has not arrived and you think something has gone wrong, contact us and we will chase it with Stripe on your behalf.
